In 1994, a public television crew interviewed seven Cubans as they prepared to set to sea on homemade rafts for whatever destination awaited them in America.  One was forced to return to Cuba, the remainder found new lives in the United States.  Seven years later, filmmakers, Carles Bosch and Jose Maria Domenech, caught up with the “balseros” (rafters) and chronicled their new lives in such diverse cities as Miami, the Bronx, York, Pennsylvania, and Grand Island, Nebraska.  Balseros was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary, and was named one of the Ten Best Non-fiction Films of 2003 by the Indianapolis International Film Festival Group.

Balseros will make its Indiana Premiere.

Balseros shows at:
6:00 PM - Saturday March 6
11:00 AM - Sunday March 7
